WHO – Surgery Timeout Checklist

Surgical time out is a check list process which is advocated prior to induction of anesthesia in order to avoid “wrong site” and other surgical errors. The World Health Organization has published their version of the checklist (below) and are promoting it with a video from the TV series “ER”. This video is a rather accurate representation of the initial resistance to change and unanticipated error reduction the time out procedure can result in.
